A Brief Description

The Ontario Veal Association (OVA) is a producer run organization that is dedicated to representing the
interests of both grain-fed and milk-fed veal producers in Ontario. As well, the OVA is committed to
enhancing the Ontario veal industry on behalf of all those associated with the industry, including
packers, processors, feed companies, pharmaceutical companies, retailers, foodservice, and
other service and equipment suppliers.

The OVA became an incorporated organization under the Agricultural and Horticultural Organizations Act
in 1990, thereby replacing previous organizations whose interests were specific to the grain-fed and
milk-fed sectors of the veal industry.

The business of the OVA is handled by a Board of Directors that consists of eight producers
who are elected to a two year term by their fellow producers at the Annual General Meeting
held every year. The OVA constitution makes provision for at least one grain-fed or milk-fed
producer to represented on the Board at all times. Only those Ontario veal producers who
hold "voting member" status with the OVA may vote on motions or for elections at the AGM.
